Each year, thousands of guests from across the world gather at the Farmington Polo Club in Connecticut to support a signature fundraising event. During the week, automotive enthusiasts, motorcyclists, and others enjoy family fun while honoring the Special Olympics and those living with intellectual disabilities.
As part of the event experience, a 12-mile cruise in classic and exotic cars takes place, as well as a motorcycle ride through the neighboring countryside. Besides those activities, guests enjoy the car show, live music and entertainment, a pet adoption center, chili cook-off, raffles, and more.
As all of this takes place in the middle of the summer heat, one of the top priorities regarding on site logistics is keeping tents and guests comfortable and cool. For this annual project, the client requested help cooling their main 40,000 square foot tent, the VIP tent, and pet tents throughout the course of the week. In addition to the cooling requirements, power for all of the equipment had to be supplied.
Between our sales reps, along with our Connecticut based technicians who collaborated with event operations staff, we were able to successfully meet the client’s needs in a timely and budget-conscious manner. To assist, four 150kw generators supplied the necessary power to the air conditioning, air handling units, and chillers on site. Two 100 ton chillers, two 100 ton air handling units, eight 25 ton air conditioners, and two 30 ton air conditioners were installed to ensure temperatures in all of the tents were controlled to meet the client’s requests.
Visitors could escape the humidity and heat inside these tents and everyone on site enjoyed their experience. In addition, the fundraising efforts broke records in 2021, as $3 million dollars was raised. To date, over $18 million dollars have been raised at the event and donated to the foundation. In turn, the money from participants, sponsors, and donors is helping make dreams come true and a difference in the lives of many.
